Creamy Macaroni and Cheese
Ingredients
- 2 Cups cooked elbow macaroni (1 cup uncooked)
- 2 Tablespoons grated onion
- 1 1/2 Cups grated Cheddar cheese (about 6 ounces)
- 1 Tablespoon margarine
- 1 Tablespoon flour
- 2 Cups skim milk
- 1/2 Teaspoon salt
- 1/4 Teaspoon pepper
Method
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- Place half of the cooked macaroni in a 1 1/2 quart casserole sprayed with vegetable pan spray. Sprinkle with half of onion and cheese. Repeat layers.
- Melt margarine in a small saucepan. Remove from heat, stir in flour. Add milk slowly, stirring until smooth. Add salt and pepper. Return pan to heat; cook stirring constantly, until sauce thickens. (This will be a thin sauce.)
- Pour over macaroni. Cover. Bake for 30 minutes. Uncover. Bake 15 minutes longer.
